Water purifiers are considered essential equipment in any home. It helps us make better use of what we have got; it ensures that the water we consume is free from pollutants and harmful elements such as lead, chlorine, bacteria, parasitic cysts, prescription drugs, etc. With every passing day, more people are looking for ways to purify their drinking water, as pollution is getting more rampant and there are many pollutants in the atmosphere which can pollute the ground water.
Different Kinds of Water Purifiers
Water purification is merely the process of eliminating unwanted chemicals, suspended particles, biological contaminants, and carcinogenic gases in water. The main objective is to make water suitable for human consumption for several purposes such as bathing, drinking, cooking, laundry, and other such activities. There are a few kinds of water purifiers, namely reverse osmosis, ultraviolet (UV) water purifiers, carbon filters, distillation, etc.
Reverse osmosis is one of the most common kinds of water purifiers. This works by forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane which has pores in it, trapping the contaminants on its outer surface. UV water purifiers use ultraviolet rays to kill microorganisms and also improve the taste and smell of water. Carbon filters work by forcing carbon into the liquid holding the suspended particles. Distillation purifies water by heating it to a boiling point where vapor clouds are formed, resulting in the removal of impurities.
